I recently watched a PBS documentary on the thought process of both men and women based off the Broad Comedy “Defending the Caveman” by Rob Becker, the longest running Broadway comedey in history. I basically makes the argument that men are hunters by nature, since the days of their ancestors, and uses the comparison of a man “hunting” with the remote control, highlighting the way men flip through chanels. Men find and kill. They also contend that the female is a gatherer by nature. They examine. They assess. They gather….and the authors spotlight a woman’s love of shopping as the example. I found it very interesting but with any theory, their will be counter-theory, which was also part of the program. What are your thoughts on the Hunter/Gatherer Theory?
