All White Everything…..

There are always styles and customs in place in every region you visit. Fortunately, in my life I’ve had the opportunity to live exclusively in coastal cities. That’s right folks….aside from a few years in the ATL, I’ve always resided in a coastal city and “all white everything” events are a common custom during the summer months. This past weekend, I participated in two. The first was as wedding photographer for my cousin Montrice who got married in a lovely, private ceremony on the beach which was followed the next day by an “all white” boat ride along the Charleston coastline with many friends and family members. Nothing says “fresh” like “all white everything”……dope
Anatomy of an Outfit – Part 5

A recent discussion with Gezee resulted in the realization that we were long overdue for a fashion post here at MTF, but some times unfortunately, we live strongly by our motto….”Life as we know it” and lately, “life” just hasn’t been about fashion for us. With shoots, the recurring series “The Fresh” and a priority list a mile long, we may have neglected some of our resident fashion enthusiasts, unintentionally of course. Well, wait no more, socialites. We’ll make sure we give you your fashion fixes a little more often starting with the latest Anatomy of an Outfit installment. In this case we highlight Jason, a young cat I met through a mutual friend who’s style was pretty dope so I asked him to share his Fresh with you all. The mission was simple: put together an outfit of your choice that represents your personal style. Jason didn’t disappoint, putting together some great pieces that can definitely help to get you through the summer. I’m always a bit skeptical about what people will show up wearing when I give them that freedom but that’s what makes it all the more interesting, don’t cha think? Just as I had envisioned, Jason represented his style well, showcasing some great streetwear pieces including a fly cardigan, an interesting t-shirt, and some essential headwear. Shouts out to Jason for playing a part, and check the shots from the shoot after the jump……dope.

Behind The Scenes: DiptNYC Photoshoot

As promised, here are some of the shots from the DiptNYC Summer X photoshoot. Yesterday, I showed you all the finished video. Today, we go behind the scenes. Unfortunately, my inexperience with using Macs lead to me accidently erasing most of the pictures the exception of a few I put in a folder to edit. Fortunately, I had a few on reserve so we good. Not much more to say except……dope.
DIPT NYC Presents: Summer X Lookbook

If you all haven’t noticed, we rarely repost features from other blogs. Not that we don’t like other blogs or support their efforts, but the premise of this blog is to provide life from our perspectives which pretty much eliminates the “cut & paste” method of research seen so abundantly on many blogs and websites these days (insert Hypebeast picture and paraphrased article here lol), however, in this particular instance I’m going to share something from the homie Matt, AKA The Ice Cream Man (and he really keeps ice cream on him at all times lol), from his blog and streetwear line, Dipt NYC. I’m sure you’ve seen Matt pop up on MTF a few times and he’s a definite member of the MTF family so I wanted to share Dipt NYC’s Summer X line, via video lookbook with music from The Cool Kids. It seems we’re not the only ones trying to go bigger, better, and harder with each venture. You know I couldn’t let something like this go down without having my hand in it in some way, shape, form, or fashion so I’ll have the behind-the-scenes shots from the photo shoot shot by BadJon real soon. In the mean time, enjoy this video and hit up Dipt NYC to purchase and for the full post……dope.
Social Nights with Socialites…..

Well, what can I say…I fought the “LA”and the “LA” won, as in the Los Angeles Lakers are the new NBA Champions for the second year in a row. Being an avid non-Laker fan (since the 80′s, not because of Kobe), I was behind the Celtics for this one but needless to say, they couldn’t pull it out. Congrats Laker fans (I’m no hater)….enjoy it. With the game over and done with and the realization that my sports watching season is on hiatus until September, I decided to hit up Rendevouz where KJ was having a little shindig. People were still agonizing in defeat or celebrating their respective victories and you could distinguish the winners from the losers very easily. Aside from the usual trash talking, the night turned out cool. This event is something that is going to be ongoing, so you’ll probably see another installment at some point. I was in the company of the usual suspects, KJ, Taji, Smitty, etc. in addition to finally getting to meet Charleston’s First Lady of Fashion, coordinator of Charleston Fashion Week, and style editor for Charleston Magazine, Ayoka Lucas. It’s pretty ill when you meet somebody who you’re a fan of and before telling them, they tell you they’re a fan of yours. I got to chop it up with Ayoka and discuss some upcoming projects so stay tuned for that. Surprises are definitely on deck……dope
“Sex and the City 2″ Pre-Screening Event- Red Carpet Recap
“Sex and the Queen City- starring hostess Britteny Cason”

The red carpet at last week’s “Sex and the City 2″ Pre-Screening Event was beaming with a wide range of Charlotte’s most elite citizens. Expecting this “chick flick” to attract various female fashionistas all over the Queen City, I was surprised to see male attendees like Former Carolina Panther’s Safety Chris Harris or Hip-Hop pioneer Special Ed. I must say this was the most eclectic red carpet event I have ever been too. The pictures below attempt to capture the essence of that red carpet experience.
Celebrating Friends, Family, and Sisterhood (SATC syle)

“The most important thing in life is your family. There are days you love them, and others you don’t. But, in the end, they’re the people you always come home to. Sometimes it’s the family you’re born into and sometimes it’s the one you make for yourself.” –Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City
