Guest Post: Why “Purple Rain” is the Best Movie of All Time by Rah

When “Meet The Fresh” asked me to write a guest spot not only was I honored but esteemed as well, but when they let me pick my own topic to discuss I was as excited as Jesse James on a porno set. I decided to write about a topic near and dear to my heart, a monumental piece of cinematography that forever changed my life. Not only did this classic film have all the ingredients for an instant classic such as comedy, drama, romance, and a topless Apollonia, it also happens to have quite possibly the greatest sound track of all time. If you haven’t figured out what film I’m referring to its 1984’s “Purple Rain” starring non other than Prince, Clarence Williams III, and Morris Day.

Entertainment: Patrice O’Neal’s Guide to White People

Comedy Central is in preparation of airing a new show hosted by comedian Patrice O’Neal called Patrice O’Neals Guide to White People. Of course, the show bares a striking resemblance to the blog and book, Stuff White People Like but we’re not ones to judge. The show will feature Patrice O’neal preciding as professor of a class entitled Whitey 101, teaching Americans and foreigners, wanting to learn about white people. O’neal addresses things like white peoples’ love for vintage clothing saying, “it allows a white person to have something that other white people don’t. This is an important consideration when trying to determine the worth and ranking of white people.” Whether the show is a rip-off of the blog or not, I’m sure it will be hilarious, and check the site when you get a chance. I’m sure you’ll get a laugh.

Entertainment: Don’t Let Me Down by Jesse Jackson (Eddie Murphy)

YouTube Preview Image
I came across this hilarious bit by Eddie Murphy on SNL of him singing “Don’t Let Me Down” as Jessie Jackson. The story behind the skit is that the good reverend Jesse, in a 1984 interview with Washington Post reporter Milton Coleman, referred to Jews as “Hymies” and New York as “Hymietown” (for those of you who weren’t born or old enought to remember). In addition to a public apology in the presence of Jewish leaders in a Jewish synagogue in Manchester, New Hampshire, the result was a hilarious musical sketch by Eddie Murphy. Enjoy
